Stellantis has announced that Leapmotor, a Chinese EV startup, will enter the Malaysian market as an affordable electric vehicle (EV) brand. The first model expected to launch is the T03 electric hatchback. Leapmotor, founded in 2015, has been selling cars in China since 2018 and sold over 144,000 electric cars in 2023. Last year, Stellantis and Leapmotor formed Leapmotor International, a joint venture with Stellantis holding a 51% stake and Leapmotor 49%, focusing on exporting cars to overseas markets.

In Malaysia, Stellantis plans to revive iconic brands such as Jeep, Peugeot, and Citroen, positioning them as "professional lifestyle", "upper mainstream", and "mass market" respectively. The T03 hatchback is a small city car with three e-motor variants and three battery options, offering a range of 200 – 403 km. Its price in China ranges from 49,900 – 89,900 yuan (approximately 6,900 – 12,425 USD).

Stellantis COO for ASEAN, Daniel Gonzalez, mentioned that they are working on the positioning and pricing of the Peugeot e-2008 relative to the upcoming Leapmotor brand to ensure competitive pricing.
