Xiaomi EV buyers will have to wait up to seven months

Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant, has recently entered the electric vehicle (EV) market with its debut offering: the Xiaomi SU7 sedan. This move comes just over a month after Apple abandoned its own EV dream. Let's delve into the details:

1. Strong Demand: Xiaomi's SU7 has garnered significant interest, with pre-orders reaching nearly 90,000 within the first 24 hours of its launch.

2. Delivery Delays: Potential buyers should be prepared for a wait time of four to seven months before receiving their SU7. This extended delivery period indicates robust demand for the smartphone maker's first-ever EV.

3. Competitive Pricing: Xiaomi aims to compete with Tesla, positioning the SU7 as a full-size high-performance eco-technology sedan. The base model starts at US$29,870, making it more affordable than Tesla's Model 3 in China.

4. Impressive Specs: The SU7 boasts impressive specs, including a 73.6 kWh battery with a range of 700 km (435 miles) for the standard version and a 94.3 kWh battery with a range of 830 km (516 miles) for the Pro version.

5. Advanced Technology: Features like a head-up display, Pilot Pro ADAS, and a Dolby Atmos sound system enhance the driving experience.

6. Xiaomi's Ambition: Xiaomi's CEO, Lei Jun, envisions becoming one of the top five global automakers within 15 to 20 years. The company has invested over 10 billion CNY in research and development for its EV venture.

The SU7 represents Xiaomi's bold leap into the automotive industry, and its competitive pricing and advanced technology make it a compelling contender in the EV market.
